Every Tuesday night we celebrate small milestones - reaching a goal, getting a better job, improved relationships, etc... But last night we celebrated a BIG milestone for many in Thrive!
We celebrated graduates from our most recent leader and ally training classes. We celebrated outstanding volunteers. We celebrated our first class who has been with us for nearly two years and part of a Thrive! Team for 18 months. We celebrated these "Alum" who are choosing to stay with the program in a different role. We celebrated community, relationship strengthening, family. We asked each person to write one word that they think of when they think of Thrive! Here's what they had to say...
The Cost Of Poverty Experience (COPE) was co-designed with low-income individuals and allows a group of participants to experience one month in the life of a family or individual living below the poverty line. The goal is to encourage participants to collaborate more actively with low-income individuals and families in their communities to understand and address the issues of poverty and to work together to address the issues. COPE will provide participants ample time to process, discuss and dream together as they respond to what they learn about themselves and others during the experience. The event is limited to 120 participants and is free. Attendees and volunteers will represent the child welfare sector, USD383 school district, international development sector, business community and local faith community. All are welcome! SNACKS AND DRINKS PROVIDED. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BROWN BAG LUNCH.
